School/Career/Lifeplan
- take a career quiz
- decide on a future career I’d enjoy
- get a Masters degree in statistics
- decide what to do immediately after getting my Ph.D.
- apply for summer funding that excites me
- get published in an academic journal
- design my own course and propose to teach it
- apply to an academic conference I find really interesting
- try to complete Women’s Studies certificate or stop saying I’m going to
- learn SEM
- conduct an experiment
- do one research project that involves coding some of the magazines I’ve saved for years
- apply for debit funds I’ve been procrastinating on
- find somewhere appealing to study other than the bar
- learn more about consulting
- take another course in the business school
- figure out how to import my data from SPSS to R to help me do data analysis
- figure out an exciting dissertation topic
- get a Ph.D.
Volunteering/Public Service
- volunteer for something related to the 2008 election
- participate in some volunteer/public service project dealing with sexual health
- find somewhere to volunteer on a regular basis (and do so for at least three months)
Home
- hang artwork on my walls
- clean all my floors (at least once a week for a month)
- have a garage sale
- clear off desk at home and actually use it
- hang curtains
- get automatic shower cleaner to work and keep bathroom clean
- establish system to keep apartment from getting incredibly cluttered
- deal with all the paper in my apartment
Self-Improvement
- go 1 month without drinking alcohol
- get back into a darkroom to develop film
- journal at least semi-regularly (3x a week for at least a month)
- update this blog at least once a week to keep track of my goals
- get a massage
- learn to curl my hair
- whiten my teeth
Travel
- travel internationally somewhere I haven’t been before
- go back to Australia for at least two weeks (ideally longer)
- go on a road trip on my own
- visit the deep South
- visit Nashville
- have a fun Spring Break
Fitness/Athletics
- try spinning at least twice
- run a 10k race
- try swimming as exercise at least once a week for one month
- try surfing again
- go hiking
- go on at least five bike rides in Ann Arbor, or sell bike
- try yoga at least twice
- try pilates at least twice
- play an intramural sport
- increase bench press weight by 20 lbs.
- complete some sort of training toward being a fitness instructor
Health/Diet/Food
- eat more vegetables (reach an average of 2 per day for a month)
- take vitamins every day for a month
- drink eight glasses of water per day for two weeks
- try at least one new recipe a month for six months
- cook a tofurky
- learn to eat salad
- organize recipes
- try five new foods
- go one week without any diet soda at all
- try drinking vegetable juice everyday for one week
- aim for only one meal with lots of cheese per day for at least 5 days a week for two weeks straight
- learn to cook beans in some non-gross way
- return to eating healthy breakfasts for two weeks straight
- get skin checked by a dermatologist

- send the wedding gifts I slacked off on (however late)
- visit my aunts in Chicago
- take my dad to a football game at Michigan
- have another reunion with college friends
- call home at least once per week for three months
- make Mom a homemade birthday gift
- attend Grinnell reunion
Sports
- attend another Michigan bowl game
- attend a Michigan away game
- attend a hockey game
- learn more about college football through reading
- tailgate at a Southern school

- take a woodworking course
- attempt to read 3 serious news articles per week for at least two months
- learn more line dances
- take another semester of Irish dance class
- learn another style of dance (solo)
- learn a style of partner dance and go out somewhere to partake in it
- take a photography class
- read at least five works of literature from pre-1950
- learn more about finances and organize bank accounts
- revisit French and try to remember basics of speaking
- keep track of books I read and thoughts on them

- go sledding in Ann Arbor
- buy a new battery for my computer
- get car to work reliably (no breakdowns for 6 months)
- do some assignment for a magazine or other publication

- take a bartending course and work as a bartender
- reduce procrastination in a noticeable way
- make prints of the best of my photos from the last year
- plan country music book with Sara
- attend a church service
